What is a deck?
A deck is a wood-framed structure located outside of the house. Decks are usually attached to the house on one side. Decks can be on the ground or elevated using stairs.
A deck is typically consisting of the following components:
- Decking
- Railings
- Joists
- Beam
- Deck ledger
- Posts
- Stairs

What type of materials can be used as decking?
Decking can be made from wood, wood composite materials, plastic, and metal. Here are commonly used materials for decking:
- Trex
- Redwood
- IPE wood
- Pressure-treated lumber
- PVC decking
- Cedar wood
- Bamboo decking
- Mahogany
- Aluminum decking
- Concrete deck
- Rubber decking
- Stone deck
